Montana State Skiers Place Sixth and Seventh at Alaska Invitationals

At the UAA meet, the Bobcats saw their most significant race in the Nordic freestyle events. Bozeman native Mellie Park paced MSU with a top ten finish, placing seventh overall. The Bobcat men were led by Bernhard Roenning, who finished 12th overall.
Senior Anders Folleraas paced Montana State in the classic race, finishing ninth overall. The Bobcat women were led by Kaelin Kiesel, who placed 8th in a time of 17:27.1.
The highest finish recorded by the Bobcat alpine squad belonged to Carmel McElroy, who posted a seventh place finish in the giant slalom with a two-run total of 1:49.46.
On the men’s side, Paul Britvar and Alex van Roon each recorded 16th place finishes over the weekend. Britvar posted a two-run total of 1:39.53 in the slalom, while van Roon notched a time of 1:57.71 in the giant slalom.
Colorado won the team title with 542 points, followed by New Mexico 529.5, UAA 529, Utah 492.5, Denver 481, MSU 396, Nevada 350, Whitman 186 and Wyoming 24.
At the Seawolf Invitational, the Bobcats were led by its Nordic contingent in the classic events as Roenning notched a ninth place showing in 43:41.7. Kiesel guided the women’s squad placing 13th overall.
MSU’s top alpine performance was turned in by Megan Bacharach, who finished 16th with a total time of 1:45.56 in slalom. Toby LaMar registered the men’s top finish, placing 22nd overall in the slalom event in 1:36.13.
UAA won the team title with 554 points, followed by Utah 538, Colorado 514.5, Denver 506.5, New Mexico 472.5, Nevada 383.5, MSU 340, Whitman 183, and Wyoming 42.
The Bobcats will compete at the University of Colorado Invitational next weekend.
