Montana State Women’s Nordic Contingent Lead ‘Cats at Colorado Invite

Kaelin Kiesel and Claire Rennie each had a fifth place finish in classical and freestyle, respectively. In addition, Kiesel, a sophomore from Ketchum, Idaho recorded a seventh place clocking in the freestyle.
The MSU men’s Nordic squad was led by Bernhard Roenning, who reached the podium with a third place finish in the men’s 21K freestyle.
Amy Lattimer led the Bobcat women’s alpine team with a 12th place finish in the giant slalom. The junior from Sault Ste. Marie, Canada posted a two-run clocking of 2:11.39. Also notching a top 20 finish was Carmel McElroy, who placed 16th overall.
Lattimer and McElroy also placed 11th and 15th in a women’s slalom qualifier held in conjunction with the CU Invitational.
“Our mission heading into the meet was to step up to another level,” said MSU director of skiing/alpine head coach Dan Brelsford. “We’re at a point in the season where we need to push it to the limit.”
The Montana State men’s alpine team was paced by two-time NCAA qualifier Toby Lamar, who posted a 12th place in finish in the slalom qualifier, along with a 17th place showing in same event as part of the CU Invite and a 26th place finish in the giant slalom.
MSU will compete at University of Denver Invitational, Feb 5.
