Bobcat Skiers in Sixth at Seawolf Invitational

Due to weather cancelations and scheduling conflicts, two separate invitationals are running simultaneously- the other is the UAA Invitational.
The Bobcat alpine took to the slopes on Thursday with the women’s slalom race and the men’s giant slalom event.
MSU was paced by the women’s contingent as Megan Bacharach, a sophomore from St. Cloud, Minn., finished 16th overall with a two-run total of 1:45.56. She was followed by Carmel McElroy, 20th, 1:49.32; Hannah Victory, 21st, 1:49.49; and Ali Leighton, 28th, 2:04.08.
Junior Amy Lattimer did not finish the first run.
Alaska-Anchorage’s Alexandra Parker won the women’s event in 1:39.99.
The Bobcat men were led by freshman Chet Cook (Missoula), who placed 23rd overall with a two-run clocking of 1:46.99. He was followed by Kris Shampeny, 28th, 1:49.57; Alex van Roon, 29th, 1:50.10; Toby LaMar, 30th, 1:51.45; and Joe Nelson, 31st, 1:53.19.
Freshman Paul Britvar did not finish the first run.
Utah’s Nick Choee won the individual men’s title in 1:43.49.
The Utes lead the team standings after the giant slalom/slalom events with 147 points. Utah is followed by UAA 135, Denver 132, Colorado 131, Nevada 124, MSU 79, New Mexico 77, and Whitman 56.
The UAA Invitational will take place Friday afternoon with the Nordic classical races, the men’s slalom and the women’s giant slalom. The Bobcats are currently fourth overall.
