The MSU volleyball team came up short for the fourth time this season in Big Sky play in a five-set match

Kyla Hendry had a team-high 15 kills on Saturday night against Sacramento State.

For the fourth time in eight tries on their home court, the Montana State volleyball team came up on the short end of a five-set Big Sky Conference match. 

 

Sacramento State handed the Bobcats a 22-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13 setback, in Shroyer Gym on senior night.

 

In all, the match featured 37 ties and 15 lead changes.

 

Playing in their final match at home, seniors Kyla Hendry, Nicole Grypiuk and Taylor Faught stole the show for the Bobcats.

 

Hendry and Grypiuk recorded a team-best 15 and 14 kills, respectively, while Faught dished out 55 assists, while adding 13 digs.

 

Also in double-figure kills for Montana State (3-21, 1-13) were freshman Kylie Edinger, who posted a career high 13 kills, while hitting .400 from the field and adding a match high seven blocks, and Jodeen Rademacher with 12 winners.

 

Defensively, the Bobcats were paced by junior libero Meghan Albiston with a match-high 27 digs. Also in double-digit digs were Taylar Barney and Allyson Porter with 10 apiece.

 

For the match, Sacramento State (16-14, 6-8) out-hit Montana State .219 to .200.  MSU had the upper-hand defensively, out-digging the Hornets 78-66.

 

Sacramento State was led in the win by Desiree Hoyum with 18 kills and 15 digs.

 

MSU will conclude its season next weekend at Idaho State and Weber State.
