
Seniors Lift MSU Skiers to Sixth Place at RMISA-NCAA West Region Championships

Seniors Toby Lamar and Amy Lattimer saved their best for last as the duo each finished first for their respective teams in the slalom at the 2010 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association and NCAA Western Regional Championships, Saturday night.

Seniors Toby Lamar and Amy Lattimer saved their best for last as the duo each finished first for their respective teams in the slalom at the 2010 Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Skiing Association and NCAA Western Regional Championships, Saturday night.
In a rare night compeition, Lamar placed sixth overall with a two-run total of 1:16.77- by far his best performance of the season. Lamar notched 37 points for the Bobcats.
Also posting his best race at MSU was Kris Shampeny, who finished ninth in a clocking of 1:20.13. Rounding out MSU's scoring was Michael Mackie, who ended 17th in a time of 1:30.60
MSU also received a contribution from Alex van Roon, who finished 21st overall. Freshmen Geoff Irwin and Chris Barber were out of competition after the first run.
Lattimer had one of her best finishes as a Bobcat, as well, placing 13th overall in a two-run clocking of 1:23.10, good for 27 points. Also adding to MSU's scoring were Megan Bacharach, 20th, and Hannah victory, 22nd.
Terra Moran, 24th, and Ali Leighton, 32nd, rounded-out MSU's participants.
In Nordic action, junior Kaelin Kiesel logged her second straight top ten finish, placing 7th overall in the women's 15K freestyle race with a time of 47:10.8. She was followed in MSU top three by Casey Kutz, 12th, and Corrine Malcolm, 13th.
Also finishing for the Bobcats were Mellie Park, 15th, Rachelle Kanady, 20th, and Liza Goodwin 23rd.
Tyler Reinking led MSU men's contingent in the 20K freestyle, placing 11th in a time of 55:02.9. Also providing points for the Bobcats were Drew Scott, 19th, and Hans Nygren, 23rd.
Rounding out the day for MSU were Ryan Scott, 24th, Bernhard Roenning, 28th, and Luke Bromley, 30th.
Host Colorado won the RMISA-NCAA Western Regional team tiltle, racking up 902 points. The Buffaloes were followed by Alaska-Anchorage 764, New Mexico 725, Utah 705, Denver 700.5, MSU 640, and Nevada 635.5.
The Bobcats will compete at the NCAA Championships, March 10-13 in Steamboat Springs, hosted by Colorado. MSU will find out this week which Bobcats have qualified for the NCAA Championships.
