The Bobcats went 5-6-7 in the men's freestyle on the final day of the NCAA Championships. Earning All America honors are (from left) Tyle Reinking, 6th, Ryan Scott, 7th, and Bernhard Roenning, 5th.
Four Bobcats earned All-America honors and Montana State posted its best finish since 1983 by capturing eighth at the 2010 NCAA Ski Championships hosted by the University of Colorado on Saturday.
Grethe Hagensen’s Bobcat Nordic unit finished the meet with a flurry. Bernhard Roenning (sr., Skogn, Norway) finished fifth in the Men’s 20-kilometer Freestyle to claim First Team All-America honors, while soph. Tyler Reinking (Silverthorne, Colo., sixth, 49:31.1) and jr. Ryan Scott (Boulder, Colo., seventh, 39:32.6). Roenning earned Second Team All-America honors in Thursday’s classical competition. On the women’s side, jr. Kaelin Kiesel (Ketchum, Idaho) finished ninth to earn Second Team All-America kudos.
In pacing the Bobcats this weekend, the Nordic unit was spectacular. MSU’s cross country skiers finished third among the meet’s Nordic competitors, the school’s best finish ever. The six All-America Bobcats mark the most in a single meet in school history, as well.
