Montana State All America skier Tyler Reinking and tennis standout Esteban Ferrero each garnered ESPN The Magazine All District VII At-Large Academic honors, as voted and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Reinking (Silverthorne, CO) earned Second Team All-America accolades by placing 6th overall at the 2010 NCAA Skiing Championships in the Nordic Freestyle event. He was a member of the Bobcat ski team that placed 8th at the NCAA Championship. In addition, he helped guide the MSU Nordic squad to a third place finish at the NCAAs, including winning the men's freestyle event. On the season, Reinking had four top ten finishes, including a 6th place showing in the freestyle at the Utah Invite. Reinking has a 3.97 grade-point average in university studies.
Ferrero (Manizales, Colombia) finished 2010 with a 9-14 overall mark as Montana State's No. 4 singles player. He also posted a 9-13 doubles record. For his efforts, he earned Second Team All-Big Sky honors. Ferrero was also a First Team 2009 Arthur Ashe Jr. All-Scholar and a four-time Academic All-Big Sky selection. Off the court, he was involved in a Bozeman Cancer Support Center fund-raiser that raised over $10,000. Ferrero has a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average in anthropology.
The at-large academic category consists of teams in women's bowling; women's crew; men's and women's fencing; women's field hockey; men's and women's golf; men's and women's gymnastics; men's and women's ice hockey; men's and women's lacrosse; men's and women's rifle; men's and women's skiing; men's and women's swimming; men's and women's tennis; men's volleyball; men's and women's water polo; and men's wrestling.
Both Reinking and Ferrero are eligible for Academic All America honors, which will be selected the second week of June.
