The Montana State volleyball team was one of 94 NCAA Division I programs, and just one of four Big Sky Conference schools, to be named American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All Academic.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
The 2009 Bobcat volleyball team had a cumulative 3.41 team grade-point average. The last time MSU received the AVCA all academic recognition was in 2003.
“This is the highest team academic honor we can receive in our sport,” said MSU head coach Sara Schaub. “Our student-athletes have done an outstanding job in the classroom and this is a nice accolade for their hard work.”
In addition, Montana State had a record ten student-athletes earn all Big Sky Conference academic honors last season.
