Montana State volleyball coach Sara Schaub will get to look at someone other than her team on the other side of the net this weekend as the Bobcats hold their annual Alumni match, Saturday at 1 p.m., in Shroyer Gym.
“We’re at the point where we need to see how far we’ve progressed in the preseason,” Schaub said. “The alumni match is a good warm-up for the start of the regular season. We’ll get to use a variety of line-ups and get a feel for what we need to accomplish before our first tournament.”
A pair of seniors will pace the Bobcats this fall. Meghan Albiston, a libero from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and outside hitter Jodeen Rademacher from Adams, Neb., will anchor the MSU rotation.
Albiston recorded 435 digs last year, which were the fourth highest total ever recorded at Montana State. She also ranked among the top five liberos in the Big Sky Conference. Rademacher returns as MSU’s top offensive threat after pounding down 169 kills, averaging 1.52 kills per game.
The MSU alumni team will feature its best line-up since the annual match began two years ago. Returners to the Shroyer Gym floor include Angela Wiebe, Aimee Halyk, Patti Anderson, Kamber Kelly, Lindsay Stobbs, Heather Dolan, Kaytlin Van Burger, Becca Owens, Natalie Paredes, Kami Buettner, Kodi Crawford and current Bozeman High School head coach Laura Viren.
The alumni match is free and open to the public as part of MSU’s Family Fun Day, which will also feature a football scrimmage at 2:45 p.m., in Bobcat Stadium. Inflatables and ice cream will also be available at the football venue.
