The Montana State volleyball team will compete at the Indiana State – Drury Inn Classic this weekend in Terre Haute.

The Bobcats, who need just one victory to surpass its win total from 2008 and 2009, will open on Friday with Western Carolina. The match is slated for 2 p.m. (MST). On Saturday, MSU will meet SIU Edwardsville at 8 a.m., followed by Indiana State at 5 p.m.

Montana State opened its 2010 campaign going 3-1 at the Robert Morris-Duquesne Invite, last weekend in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Bobcats won their first three matches, which gave them MSU’s longest win streak since 2005. In addition, the 3-0 start to the season matched the 2004 squad, and its 3-0 sweep of Morgan State was the first since the Bobcats downed North Florida in straight sets during the 2007 season.

“We had a lot of milestones last weekend,” said MSU head coach Sara Schaub. “It was great to see the steadfastness and competitive nature of the team come through.”

MSU will face three teams this weekend that have a combined 6-4 mark after the first weekend. Indiana State is 3-1, including a win over SIU Edwardsville. SIUE is 1-2, while Western Carolina enters 2-1, with its only loss to North Carolina State.

Last weekend, the Bobcats were paced by its co-captains- Meghan Albiston and Rachelle Allen.

Albiston, a senior libero from Idaho Falls, Idaho, averaged 4.53 digs per game, and was in double-figure saves in all four matches, including a season-best 23 digs against Morgan State.

Allen, a junior outside hitter from Longmont, Colo., averaged 3.27 kills and 3.13 digs per game.

For their efforts, both were named to the Courtyard by Marriott all-tournament team.
