Marcus Colbert brings dynamism, toughness to Bobcat backcourt
Montana State added a dynamic point guard Thursday, signing Post Falls, Idaho, standout Marcus Colbert to a National Letters-of-Intent.
Colbert, a 5-11 point guard from Post Falls, Idaho and a former teammate of current Bobcat Shawn Reid, joined the MSU program, according to Bobcat head coach Brad Huse. The fall signing period for Division I basketball programs began Wednesday.
Considered one of the favorites for Idaho's Preseason Player of the Year honors, Colbert made a strong impact as a junior. He averaged 16 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists a game, leading Post Falls to a 23-5 record and a fourth-place finish in the state tournament.
“Marcus is a tough, hard-nosed winner,” Huse said. “He plays with purpose and is relentless, and he's had a lot of success in high school both from an individual standpoint and from a team standpoint. He brings heart and toughness to our program and I know he will compete the right way every day to be successful. He's the kind of player others really like to play with because he is unselfish and he is all about winning. Those traits will have a great impact in our program from the outset. We couldn't be happier to add Marcus to our program.”
