MSU hits bump on road, suffering season sweep by Eagles
Montana State's shooting reverted to its pre-New Year form and so did the results, as Eastern Washington topped the cold-shooting Bobcats 69-52 in Cheney on Saturday.
Eastern outscored the Bobcats 37-28 in the firt half and 32-24 after the intermission, out-shooting the Bobcats by significant margins in each stanza. MSU shot 36% in the first half to keep the Eagles within arm's reaach, but let the game slip away by shooting just 25% in the second half. The Bobcats also committed 20 turnovers.
Shawn Reid led the Bobcats wit 10 points off the bench, including a 6-for-6 night from the charity stripe. The rest of the Bobcat team was 10-for-20 from the line.
Four Eagles scored in double digits, led by Cliff Ederaine's 17 points.. Laron Griffin scored 12, while Cliff Colimon, who torched the Bobcats a month earlier, added 11.
Montana State falls to 11-9 with the loss, 6-3 in Big Sky play. Eastern Washington snaps a losing streak and raises its record to 10-12 overall, 4-5 in the league.
