Montana product steps up role with Bobcat Sports Radio Network
Montana State Athletics and Bobcat Sports Properties announced the hiring of Tyler Wiltgen as the new radio “Voice of the Bobcats” for MSU Football broadcasts.
Wiltgen is no stranger to Bobcat Athletics after serving as the Women's Basketball broadcaster since 2007, as well as previously working with the Montana State Foundation as the Director of Development for Athletics. He also served as a sideline reporter for MSU Football the past four seasons.
“After careful consideration, we feel Tyler best represented what we were looking for in this position,” said Cameron Oliver, General Manager of Bobcat Sports Properties. “His knowledge of MSU Athletics and vision for Bobcat Sports Radio really suit the direction we're taking.”
After spending the previous five seasons with Bobcat Women's Basketball, he'll make the jump to the Men's Basketball for the 2012-13 season, as well.
“I am thrilled to be taking on this role with the Bobcats Sports Radio Network,” said Wiltgen, “Having grown up a Bobcat and listening to the legendary Dean Alexander, as well as Kris Ateberry and Jeff Lasky, it's truly an honor to follow in their footsteps.”
Bobcat Athletics plans to bring Wiltgen on in a more enhanced role with fan interaction and social media. The Cat Chat Coaches Show and Bobcat Daily Show podcasts will be enhanced by weekly blog entries, additional full-feature podcasts, as well as a continued Twitter presence giving fans a closer look at MSU Athletics.
Wiltgen's roots extend deep into the Treasure State. He is a 2005 graduate of Montana State and went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Economics in 2007. He originally hails from nearby Wilsall and graduated from Shields Valley High School.
“Tyler is a great fit for this job,” said Director of Athletics Peter Fields. “He is a true Bobcat and will do great in this position.”
Currently, in addition to his radio duties, Wiltgen continues to work with the MSU Foundation as the Principal Gifts Officer, where he has the privilege to work on several fundraising and development projects with major donors to the University.
