Bobcat Volleyball Squad to Open Spring Season at Utah Invitational

The Montana State volleyball squad will open its spring schedule on Saturday when it plays at the University of Utah Invitational in Salt Lake City. The Bobcats will face Utah Valley, Utah State and the College of Southern Idaho.
The Montana State volleyball squad will open its spring schedule on Saturday when it plays at the University of Utah Invitational in Salt Lake City. The Bobcats will face Utah Valley, Utah State and the College of Southern Idaho.
The 2013 Bobcat squad will look to springboard of its 2012 fall season. The 2012 season brought resurgence to the Montana State program.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Kyle Weindel, the Bobcats finished with a 15-14 overall mark and a 9-11 Big Sky record. The 15 victories were the most for a Montana State volleyball team since the 2005 season, and its winning record was the first since the 2004 Bobcats notched a 19-8 overall ledger. In addition, the Bobcats made their first Big Sky Conference Tournament appearance since the 2005 campaign.
“Although our spring season is more of a fun time for our players and staff, it provides us with good information when evaluating our team and players in each position,” Weindel said. “Each player will take on a larger role than they had this past fall, which will showcase where each player is skill-wise. I'm anxious to see how each player responds to their new roles.”
Montana State will host its Alumni Weekend, April 5-6. A 'Meet the Cats' sushi preparation class will be held on Friday, April 5 at Bridger Kitchens. Cost is $25. The Alumni match is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m., in Shroyer Gym, and will be followed by a social/fundraising event that will feature Bobcat head football coach Rob Ash as the guest speaker, along with appetizers, drinks and trivia. Cost of the fundraiser social is $40 and will be held at Bridger Kitchens at 6 p.m.
MSU's spring schedule also includes the Boise State Invitational, April 13, and concludes with the Montana State tournament, April 20.
