Bobcat Skiers Slip to Ninth After Second-Day of NCAA Skiing Championships

Two-time All-American David Norris just missed his third such honor placing 11th in the men’s 10-kilometer classic event to pace the Montana State ski team, Thursday morning at the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Middlebury College.
Two-time All-American David Norris just missed his third such honor placing 11th in the men's 10-kilometer classic event to pace the Montana State ski team, Thursday morning at the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships, hosted by Middlebury College.
Norris covered the course in 27:01.4 to notch a team-high 29 points. Rounding out MSU's scorers were Pat Madden, 24th, 27:40.9, and Tyler Reinking, 37th, 28:26.3.
Colorado's Rune Oedegaard won the men's individual title in 26:00.2
The Montana State women were led by Jessica Yeaton. Yeaton, who has been MSU's most consistent performer this winter, finished 14th in a clocking of 16:21.6. She was followed by Annie Liotta, 19th, 16:35.6, and Isabella Smith, 38th, 17:31.4.
Vermont's Anja Gruber won the women crown in 15:31.1.
Vermont maintained its hold on top of the team standings with 389 points. The Catamounts are followed in the top ten by CU 368.5, Utah 350, Denver 328, New Mexico 280, Alaska-Anchorage 274.5, Dartmouth 263.5, New Hampshire 228.5, MSU 200, and Middlebury 178.
The Bobcats sat in seventh place after the opening day giant slalom events. The NCAA championships will continue on Friday with the alpine slalom races.
