Bobcat sophomore earns nod from league after helping MSU to win over Griz
After earning singles and doubles wins to help propel Montana State to a crucial win over Montana on Saturday, Bobcat sophomore Javier Martin-Morillas has earned Big Sky Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week honors.
The Villanueva de la Canada, Spain, native earned a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles last weekend, spurring the Bobcats to a 5-2 win over the Grizzlies. He also teamed with Markus Schleuter for an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles. He has won three straight singles matches. MSU's win kept the Bobcats in contention for the league regular season crown.
Martin-Morillas shares the weekly award, his first career honor, with Idaho State's No. 2 singles player Charles Norman. The two square off Sunday in Bozeman when ISU visits Montana State for a match that will determine at least a share of the Big Sky regular season championship.
