The Bobcats divided into two teams and competed against each other in a friendly competition on Sunday afternoon. While meet results do not count toward Big Sky Conference Indoor qualifiers, 23 Bobcats would have earned their marks in a variety of events. With 16 being on the women's side, it is a record number of qualifying marks in the Blue/Gold meet.
The Gold team pushed past the Blue team with a team total of 150.33. Blue finished with a team score of 129.66. The women's Blue team edged the Gold squad 76.66-72.33, while the men's Gold team prevailed over the Blue 78-53.
Top performances came on the women's side from Chantel Jaeger in the 200 and 400, while Carley McCutchen led the way in the high jump. Kevin Close had a strong showing for the men in the triple jump, with teammate Christian Soratos finishing bold in the mile.
"This event is always exciting for the team to build some comradery," head coach Dale Kennedy said. "It gave us an opportunity to see where we are after the fall training and a look at where we need to be. This afternoon had a lot a highs, but also several lows we will look to overcome before our first meet. I hope it gives the team some motivation to train hard over the break to get ready for the start of the season."
The Bobcats have their soft opening on Monday, Jan. 5 for the CAT-Griz Multi Meet, followed by the Montana State Open on Friday, Jan. 16 tentatively slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
