
Track and Field Sweeps Final Weekly Honors

OGDEN, Utah – Montana State track and field earns four weekly honors heading into the conference championships. The Big Sky Conference has selected Cristian Soratos and Chantel Jaeger as the track honorees while Sean Ferriter and Carley McCutchen earned men's and women's field honors.
McCutchen, a senior from Buckley, Wash., became the first Big Sky pentathlete to break the 4,000 point mark when she posted a score of 4,056 at the Bobcat Open this past weekend. Montana's Lindsey Hall held the previous pentathlon record posting 3,969 points at last year's indoor championships. McCutchen also broke MSU's 60m hurdle record with a time of 8.59.
Soratos has been a Big Sky weekly honoree all but one week thus far this season. Last week he won the 800 meter at the Bobcat Open with a time of 1 minute 47.64 seconds, ranking No. 11 in the country in the event. Soratos continues to lead the country with his mile time of 3:55.27.
Jaeger, a senior from Yakima, Wash., picked up the Big Sky weekly honor when she broke the record she set the previous week in the 200 meter in 23.89. She also 7.73 60m dash to win the event. She currently ranks 31st in the 400 meter and 50th in the 200 meter.
Ferriter, a senior from Butte, Mont., posted a weight throw of 64 feet 3 inches at the Bobcat Open to take the men's field honor. This is Ferriter's second time earning the award in 2015, as he has won each competition he's competed thus far this season.
The 'Cats will compete at the Big Sky Conference Championships in Flagstaff, Arizona beginning with the pentathlon and heptathlon on Thursday, February 26.
