Schmitz Claims Big Sky Weekly Honor

Junior Kaylee Schmitz claimed her first career Big Sky Conference Athlete of the Week honor after breaking Montana State's 800m record on Friday evening. Schmitz' time of 2:08.44 is the best mark in the conference this season, headed into championship week.
The O'Fallon, Ill., native ranks 60th in the country and was the runner up at the 2015 indoor conference championships. Schmitz is also ranked seventh in the mile and will look to pace the 'Cats mid-distance runners throughout the meet.
Montana State hosts the 2016 Big Sky Conference Indoor Championships this week, beginning with the heptathlon and pentathlon on Thursday morning.
