MSU’s French connection took the nation’s No. 48th-ranked doubles team to the limit, before eventually falling in a tiebreaker 7-6(3) to Wyoming’s Tessa van Der Ploeg and Elisa Koonik.

Montana State's top women's doubles duo of Laura Mary and Emma Podeur highlighted the Bobcats play at the University of Wyoming Invitational over the weekend.

MSU's French connection took the nation's No. 48^th-ranked doubles team to the limit, before eventually falling in a tiebreaker 7-6(3) to Wyoming's Tessa van Der Ploeg and Elisa Koonik.

Laura Mary, a sophomore from Eaubonne, France, and freshman Emma Podeur from Mons en Baroeul, France, got the Cats out to a 5-3 lead and held a couple of match points and a chance to serve it out, before the Cowgirls top tandem rallied for the win.

"We had quite a few exciting moments this weekend," said MSU head coach Jon Reeves. "Laura and Emma had the NCAA No. 48-ranked doubles team on the ropes. The Wyoming team showed why they're one of the top doubles pairings. We got anxious and missed a target or two, but we got better because if it. You have to learn to compete at a national level. Laura and Emma stepped it up and put themselves in the mix."

On the weekend, MSU picked-up 11 singles victories led by Annie Walker with three, while Mary, Enni Zander and Sarah Cheverie each added two wins. In double action, the Bobcats posted five victories.

"The weekend was exactly what we needed," Reeves said. "We are so young and the process is proving to be bright. The Wyoming Invite allowed us the time and opportunity to become more comfortable. As the competition progressed our student-athletes were beginning to relax, allowing their personalities and skills to become evident. Match play and time together as a team is vitally important in preparation for our spring season."

MSU will wrap up its fall schedule at Gonzaga Nov. 3-5.
